French Embassy in New York
Cultural Heritage Restoration
Decorative Painting
Atelier de Ricou was selected by the French Embassy in New York to imagine a brand new scenography for their reception room and hall, located in the Payne Whitney House on 5th Avenue.
Inspired by the original neo-Renaissance style of this mansion built by famous architect Stanford White in the early 20th century, the creative team proposed to restore its Gilded Age splendor, by infusing it with a contemporary spirit, in line with the history of the place, using special materials such as gilding, mirrors and marble.
